“Hello there.” I’m taking time this month to tell you about an amazing friend of mine, who has an amazing family that includes the most amazing little boy, Drew. Just like his mom, people are naturally drawn to Drew and his charisma. Drew is a big personality in a little body. In the words of Star Wars “The Force is strong with this one”! (Side note . . . Drew LOVES everything Star Wars).
This past month, Drew and his family received some unexpected news. Drew was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Now, Drew has a lot to endure over the next 3 years of treatment but he and his family are strong and resilient and will defeat this! Luke Skywalker once said “The Force is strong in my family, my father had it, I have it, my sister has it." This is all so very true in Drew’s case . . . except his mother, grandparents and many others in his family and amogst their friends have the Force too! With Drew’s love of Star Wars and a family where the Force is so strong, it’s no surprise that Drew’s very own Star Wars inspired hashtag is #DrewStrikesBack !
Drew’s striking back against Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in many different ways. And here is just one of them:
Drew and his family have been introduced to or learned more about some amazing organizations since this journey started including Ellie’s Hats, HopeCam, INOVA Child Life Services and INOVA Blood Donor Services. Drew’s family is grateful these organizations are in place and they want to do everything they can to ensure these services are expanded for those families who need them. Therefore, Drew’s family has asked that those interested in assisting their family to contribute by donating blood or supporting one of the organizations listed above.
So, with this in mind and with Drew’s parents permission, I have decided to share Drew’s story and make both April and May #DrewStrikesBack months at my massage studio. If you would like to support any of these worthy causes, I have created the following options to thank you for your support:
#DrewStrikesBack - Option 1 - 90 for 60 Massage Session: Donate blood or give to any of the charities listed above (or another of your choice) on behalf of #DrewStrikesBack and receive a 90 minute massage session for the same price as a 60 minutes massage session. Book a 90 minute session using the code #DrewStrikesBack when scheduling your appointment. Bring in your receipt, post a pic of your giving to social media using the hashtag #DrewStrikesBack or bring in any other proof to your appointment and receive 90 minutes for the price of 60 minutes!
#DrewStrikesBack - Option 2 - Giving Warms the Heart: Purchase a Mother Earth Itty Bitty Heart thermal flax pillows at $12.95 plus tax per pillow, during the months of April or May and all sales (including my cost) will be donated to Ellie's Hats (Available for purchase at my massage studio).
